I am fascinated by the contrasts between plein air painting in an urban environment and the street art. Here in this scene of downtown Oakland I think I have captured the complexities in one scene. I painted the unique Tribune building, a 4 story cedar tree in an alley, a wall of graffiti and a gorgeous street art mural. There were many questions from passers by as to why I would paint such a scene.
